Living with two very different cousins

Coyotes are the known cousins of your beloved domesdacated dogs, and sometimes cyoties make owning a dog very difficult. At my house in Colorado, our house backs up to some great open space where we have some noisey and rude inhabbitants. A few days ago a coyote

was being chased arcoss the hill behind us, with a deer right behind it. Coyotes can make life very difficult expercially with dogs, as known hunters they would galdly kill your precious pooch. But there are a few ways around it.

a. Make sure you only let your dog out at night if they really have to go to the bathroom, if so have a flashlight with you and shine it on them constently, if you are to look away for just one second a stealthy hunter can have your dog.

b.Trust your dog. Dogs hate there cousins. A lot. And will typically not let any of them near your house. If you hear your dog barking look outside to see what is going on. Sometimes it is something harlmess, like a bird, but sometimes they mean bussniss.

c.Don't be afraid. Dogs are gental and kind creaters and are typically innocent of any crime (besides getting into the trash) and if your are always scared around them they become scared to. Just stay calm and live life with a bit more caution, but let your dog know that it's okay.
